It's powerful television (even though it seriously jumped the shark in the last episodes of the series). I've never been so attached to a character as I have been to Kemal, but for some reason the writers saw fit to
kill him in the final episode of the series just as he had found happiness with Nihan and baby Deniz . My heart is ripped out. This has gotten me to wondering what is a TV series writer's responsibility to an adoring viewership. This show has a huge following across the world, and even in countries that don't have subtitles in their languages. They invested hours and hours in rooting for Kemal and Nihan's happiness and were stunned with anger that Kemaldied . Should writers who know clearly what a public wants to see follow through with that? Or should they remain true to their vision not caring what the public thinks? In the writers' defense the title of the show gave clear indication that things wouldn't end prettily. Kara Sevda translates to Black Love or Blind Love. The title Endless Love that is used isn't correct. I think they knew how they wanted it to end. Also, Turkish TV is famous for their frustrating endings.
